I bought my first Source Hydration pack approx 4 years ago. Used it on many hikes and especially motorbike rides ranging in length from 1 days to 6 months(several of 2-3 months) always had good use from the product until last year. Towards the end of our 6 months m/c trip thru Europe problems developed. The tube with the valve started to block up and after stripping the whole thing down found the problem was a light brown film blocking the tube and valve, I have no idea where this came from , because I am very fastidious about the quality of the water going in. I suspect it MAY be part of the antibacterial treatment of the plastic the bags are made from. Anyway I have replaced the bag with a new one (functioning well) and will see how long this one will last. I suppose 4 years of frequent use is not bad!
Reply by SOURCE Thank you for your testimony! Four years of frequent use is not bad, we would agree - and we are happy to hear you replaced it with a new Widepac. Not sure exactly about the source of what you're describing. But we do recommend to use our Tube Brush Kit and to clean the valve (disassemble it and clean the parts) after extended use of the system, and before storing it for longer period of time. See our Care & Use sheets available for download for more detail. Enjoy the outdoors with SOURCE!
A friend had one on a multi day hike. And she loved it. The first thing I did when I returned was to purchase one. It is the best. Easy to use, easy to clean and dry and very substantial materials. No leaks unless you don't attach everything properly, so always check on that and there are no problems. Carry it on multi day hikes and doesn't take any room at all in my pack..
I am a c4 quad and water is very important for me. I was given a 2 L bag when l left the hospital. I have ordered 5 from source outdoor the last 4 years and have one on my chair at all times as well as hanging off of my overhead lift at night CAROL Mclelland
